Internal Family Systems
I have specialized training in Internal Family Systems, an approach that helps clients build a more compassionate and effective relationship with the different parts of themselves.
Hi, I’m Abigail Martin, a licensed mental health counselor and founder of Get Real Therapy. I specialize in working with individuals who are high-functioning on the outside, yet internally navigating anxiety, overwhelm, or a sense of disconnection.
My clinical approach is refined, intentional, and deeply personalized. I move beyond surface-level coping strategies, helping clients develop a clearer understanding of themselves and the underlying patterns shaping their experiences.
Therapy is not about labeling you as broken or telling you to simply think differently. It is about slowing down enough to understand what your symptoms, protective patterns, and emotional responses may be trying to communicate.
Through this work, clients can cultivate greater emotional clarity, resilience, and a more grounded sense of control in their lives.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida International University and my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University.
I remain committed to ongoing professional development and regularly engage in continuing education to stay connected to effective, evidence-based care. That commitment allows the work to stay thoughtful, current, and responsive to the real needs of the people I support.

EMDR can support the processing of unresolved experiences so the nervous system is no longer responding as if the past is still happening in the present.
The work honors pace, safety, nervous system capacity, and the protective strategies that may have helped you survive or adapt.
Therapy with me is collaborative, focused, and results-oriented, while still offering the depth and space required for meaningful, lasting change.
Some sessions may focus on understanding the patterns underneath anxiety, overwhelm, disconnection, or emotional reactivity. Other sessions may focus on regulation, processing, communication, boundaries, or practical next steps.
I guide clients in building a more compassionate and effective relationship with themselves, including transforming anxiety from something to fight into something to understand.

I believe therapy works best when it feels both clinically grounded and deeply human. The work can be serious, emotional, and transformative, but it can also include warmth, honesty, and moments of lightness.
